Many engineering calculations require professional judgment regarding assumptions, safety factors, operating limits, and applicability to site-specific conditions. BauerCalc cannot account for every operational scenario or engineering consideration.
Safety-Critical Applications
Certain calculations available through BauerCalc relate to safety-critical drilling and well operations, including but not limited to MAASP, kill mud weight, circulating pressures, kick tolerance, hydraulics, and well control.
These calculations may rely on simplified assumptions and may not account for all physical conditions encountered during actual operations, including multiphase flow behavior, gas expansion, wellbore geometry, temperature effects, tool configurations, or other operational variables.
BauerCalc must never be used as the sole basis for real-time operational or well control decisions. Always follow your organization's approved engineering procedures, well control policies, applicable regulations, and the judgment of qualified personnel.
Formation Data and Default Values
Formation-specific parameters, default properties, correlations, constants, and example values are derived from published literature, regional analogs, industry references, or engineering estimates where appropriate.
These values are intended only as reasonable starting points and should not be interpreted as calibrated data for any specific field, reservoir, lease, operator, or well. Users should replace default values with measured, laboratory-derived, or company-approved data whenever available.
Multiple Engineering Methods
Many engineering problems have multiple accepted solutions published in technical literature. Where appropriate, BauerCalc may present more than one recognized method, correlation, or equation.
The inclusion of multiple methods reflects accepted engineering practice and does not imply that one approach is universally superior. Selecting the appropriate methodology, assumptions, safety factors, and acceptance criteria remains the responsibility of the user and their organization.
Software Limitations
Although BauerCalc is developed with care and tested before release, software defects, implementation errors, numerical limitations, rounding differences, browser incompatibilities, or data-entry errors may occur.
No software can guarantee error-free calculations under every circumstance. Users should independently verify all results before using them for engineering, operational, financial, or investment decisions.
