Description
Computes the total upfront cash bonus payment owed at lease execution — the negotiated per-net-acre bonus rate multiplied by the lessor's net acreage — the single largest and most certain payment a mineral or leasehold owner receives at signing, independent of whether the well is ever drilled.

Assumptions
  • The bonus rate entered is the final negotiated rate per net acre — this calculator does not itself negotiate or benchmark that rate against market comparables.
  • The full net acreage is leased under a single bonus rate; a lease covering multiple tracts at different negotiated rates must be computed separately per tract and summed.
Limitations
  • Does not account for delayed or installment bonus payment structures occasionally used in large multi-tract deals — assumes a single lump-sum payment at execution.
  • Does not itself derive Net Acres from gross tract acreage — see the Gross Acres to Net Acres or Net Mineral Acres calculators for that step.
Use Cases
  • Lease offer evaluation: Compute the total upfront cash payment a lease offer represents, to compare against competing offers or a target bonus/acre benchmark.
